Daylight Saving Time?

What in the world? I don't have an account full of daylight somewhere, do you? Where is all this daylight we've been saving? Shouldn't we be able to pull some out for a dreary day?

Ok, so what is your opinion of this weird custom?
Please, share. This is a poll more or less. Just say whether you love it or hate it, or you can wax poetic on the topic if you choose, but really...what do you think?

I'll tell you what I think, if you haven't already guessed - I think it's dumb.

  1. I could write an academic dissertation on the history of Daylight Savings Time (DST), however, I'll spare you the pain. Nonetheless, in 2007, all the hoopla about the DST and saving energy is another "feel good" bit of legislation our esteemed members of Congress put in place to give us the appearance of doing the something trendy and envoi-friendly. You know a GREEN thing! Problems with the actualities of DST is no so eco-correct.
Since a lot of Americans shop for recreation and DRIVE to go shopping where is the savings? Moreover the shopping destination is more than likely inside and requires electric lighting and Point-of-Sale PCs to register the transaction. For those Americans who stay home, their PCs, TVs, DVDs, and microwaves are still going to be running, as are their heated hot tubs with built-in TVs and radios. So, again I ask, "Where is all the energy saving?" The only savings are in the bank accounts of retailers and gas/oil producers; that's where. Disagree? Prove me incorrect. :)

  2. I'm not one for govt. interference in our lives...so with that premise set, I'm one of the weird ducks that actually likes dst. It's like the fall change heralds the holidays arrival and the spring changed ushers in spring.
I still don't understand how it helps the farmer though...don't they get up with the cows anyhow???

  4. I like DST for one reason...more daylight in the summer to golf and do outside activities. I don't care all that much about it being GREEN or whatever... Just give me lots of sunlight to PLAY!
