What is your opinion of Candy Corn? I love it. I could make myself sick on it. Of course, that wouldn't take much!
What about Egg Nog? I like about two cups of it each year. I like it, but it is best in small doses.
It is interesting how our tastes and preferences vary. Movies, for example. One of my very best friends is a lot like me in many ways. We laugh at the same things. We both cry. Yet, we don't seem to like many of the same movies.
There is a wide variety of taste in books, too. I seldom love the books that I read. Although I love reading. Books that are unforgettable for me are those with a deeper meaning. Usually in some way allegorical or a parable. I prefer books written in a more literary style. Beautiful words and beautiful imagery will capture me. There also has to be characters that I really care about. I tend to read character driven novels rather than plot driven. I like books written with a higher vocabulary. I even like to have to get my dictionary out, as long as it is only once or twice in the course of the book.
What books do you like best? What's your favorite halloween candy - besides chocolate? Lets talk about YOU!
I like bottle caps, particularly the root beer flavor ones. And any of the miniature size candy bars. They are so cute. Most of the year I'm a chocolate snob, but at Halloween - little bitty Mr. Goodbars - yum.
ReplyDeleteI don't like candy corn...I love laughy taffy..not fair to take away the chocolate!! and for books..I think I tend toward the happy stories....not wild about a book that are full of allegories...I like to think....do not like sad endings and actually will stop a book for these reasons...did not finish Little Women for MANY years because I was so SAD that she dumped Laurie!! :) I think having a book blog with you is fab because I think we like different types of books. :) I can enjoy your suggestions...though. Make sense?!
ReplyDeleteMmmm... candy. I love it, but I get a tummy ache if I eat too much.
ReplyDeleteI nominated you for an award on my blog, so come pick it up!
Don't care for candy corn, or really any candy except chocolate. Egg nog is good, but like you, in small doses. I love romance novels that don't require a lot of thought. I also love Nicolas Sparks. Right now I'm re-reading Left Behind, and a deeper book about Biblcal prophecy.
ReplyDeleteI really like candy corn, or as I call it, orange and yellow sugar. I love the orange and lemon slices (more orange and yellow sugar) and, of course, chocolate. But too much sugar can make me a little mean after awhile. Or really mean, according to my husband. I like mysteries and westerns. Not so much into romances, although I used to read Harlequin some, a long time ago when I was desperate for something that wasn't a child's book. The Harlequins are all the same.
ReplyDeleteI love candy corn. I like to have it once a year. Same with egg nog. I also like about a cup a year. It's tradition, you know. Happy Halloween.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of candy corn. I love some of the Willy Wonka candy like Runts and Nerds.
ReplyDeleteAs far as books are concerned, I love mysteries, especially English mysteries (think Hercules Poirot).
I don't like candy corn - even a little makes me sick - too sweet or something. Hmm favorite candy...I don't eat candy too much unless it's Halloween or Easter time and then I eat whatever is available - tsk tsk.. usually Reeses Cup or Butterfingers - they both have chocolate, but I like them mainly for the peanut butter.
ReplyDeleteI like books that challenge and I love to watch a character develop. As far as fictional reading, mysteries and suspenseful books are probably what I like best, but only if the author can trick me into thinking the wrong thing for while. Many times I have the story figured out pretty early on - yes I enjoy the feeling of being right, but at the same time I like the challenge of having to work harder to figure it out too.
I enjoy allegories a lot because I like to learn while a read. The lessons are easier for me to swallow when they are fiction and I have to make the application to my own life.
Egg nog is a no for me - I just don't like eggs unless they are in CAKE :)
I do read books that don't fall into my favorites also - for instance Amish stories - I like to read them for a calming pace. It takes me back to where I lived as a kid. We had lots of Amish near our home.
ReplyDeleteI like a little candy corn at a time. I really like egg nog but so many calories.
ReplyDeleteI can drink a whole carton of egg nog ! I can eat candy corn all day long! And I am the garbage disposal of reading. I will read just about anything in print, but I do try to avoid books that are evil, or about evil things, and I also try to not get too many lovely dove books...so unreal. :)
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I LOVE eggnog. Yum! And Julie, what do you mean about not reading evil things? You, A Stephen King fan?
ReplyDeleteI like candy corn but really prefer chocolate over any candy. I love your blog, Kay, it's so cute!
ReplyDeleteJulie - I agree lovey dovey books are unreal.
