question

Why don't dogs have belly buttons?

  1. Just last week, I wondered the VERY SAME THING.

My daughter says it's because the umbilicus is attached to their tails.

She does not keep a straight face when she says this.

  4. Being a homeschool mom.. I found the answer to this. LOL!

They do have bellybuttnos, because they have a placenta. Just like you cats, dogs, horses, and giraffes are all placental mammals. Placental mammals develop inside their mother.
Now I have to go check out my dogs and find their bellybuttons.

  6. Duh! In the ancient Greek world, dogs were known to be born with HUGE belly buttons. I mean they could practically lay on their backs and use their belly buttons as bowls for their food. This became a problem of balance for the dogs and also they became articles of decor for certain rich Egyptians. It was very cruel.
A little Egyptian boy named Tutamungous knew that the gods they prayed to were not real. But he also knew that there was a one real true God. He prayed to that God and asked Him to be merciful to the dogs. God heard Tutumungous and miraculously, one by one, the dogs' belly buttons got smaller and smaller and smaller, until it was very difficult for anyone to even see it. Tutumongous taught his family about the one true God and the belly button miracle. His daughter started dancing to honor this feat. That was the end of dogs belly buttons and the beginning of belly dancers.
Kay, you didn't know this? Am I the only one who went to school?

  7. Sharon, I know that they actually have umbilical cords. That's why the question. Why do we have these holes in our tummies and dogs and horses and cats don't?? Is there some significance to the belly button. My kids inform me that primates have them, but I haven't checked that out.

Robbie. None of us can live up to a Texas education.
You made me laugh, though. Thanks!

  10. I'm thinking they have end-of-the-tail buttons or ear buttons.
