I am giving away a new copy of Justice in the Burbs by Will and Lisa Samson. This is a book about living out our Christianity in the world around us. Something God has been speaking to me about for several months now.
Watch the video below and leave a comment. Next Tuesday I will draw a name from those who comment for the winner!
What if your mom wins the book? People might think it's an inside job. It sounds very interesting. I like the idea of encouraging people to serve the Lord right where they are. A lot of people think they need to go to a "mission field" in order to serve God. But we need to remember that a close relationship with God comes first before our works. Doing works will not make for a closer relationship with God, unless you are willing to let Him help you grow during that time, and you are willing to listen. Without a close relationship with God, our works are just that, works.
ReplyDeleteI didn't get to view the clip because we have such horrible storms now I can't make anything work and keep getting dropped. But I will comment anyway. Uhum! I think that you have to live your life with eternity in mind, not only for others, but for you.you can't lose your salvation, but do want to face God knowing that you were selfish with His gift of salvation?. every day you need to be open to the HOly Spirits leading.
ReplyDeletePick me, pick me :)
ReplyDeleteI read the book not to long ago and loved it - you can read what I said at www.robinsreadingroom.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI borrowed the book from my library - I'm so glad they purchased it!
Kay, I can't wait to read your thoughts and review of the book.
Wow. That looks really interesting. Combining fiction and non-fiction? I'd like to take a peek at it.
ReplyDeleteI am relieved to see Evangelical Christian writers address social justice issues. As an Anglican Christian, I like the prayer we prayed on Ash Wednesday: "...Accept our repentance, Lord, for the wrongs we have done: for our blindness to human need and suffering, and our indifference to injustice and cruelty, Accept our repantance, Lord. For false judgments, for uncharitable thoughts towards our neighbors, and for our prejudice and contempt toward those who differ from us, Accept our repentance, Lord. For our waste and poluttion of Your creation, and our lack of concern for those who come after us, Accept our repentance, Lord...."
ReplyDeleteLooks like a really good read...can't wait to get my little fingers on it!!
